Iceberg, right ahead!

Whew! That was close, nearly forgot about my “post a blog once a week” plan! But I made it!

Soo anything interesting been happening this last week that could warrant a blog post? Well as it happens, Hell the UK has frozen over. This week we have seen temperatures drop as low as -10C in some places, which might not sound that impressive to all you folks living in canada (or other cold places). I am quite enjoying the cold weather, the marina looks awesome all frozen over and I get to wrap up in my super warm fluffy jacket, hoody, scarf, gloves etc.

Other than surviving the deep freeze, I went and saw Spirit which although being quite pants I did enjoy it, however the trip did remind me of one thing: going to the cinema is fraking expensive! Plus now with cinemas doing “premier” seats… premier seats annoy me, another dirty money grabbing tactic by the cinema peeps, tickets area already stupidly expensive. Back in the day I used to go to the cinema as a way of having a cheap night out, now I have to really think about a movie, read some reviews, decide if it is really worth spending a big chunk of my budget on. Now back to the premier seating, the ones in Vue are positioned in the three optimal rows, any higher and you are looking down on the screen, any lower and your looking up. So now with these extra large seats with extra large armrests (pointless) and extra legroom means that much less people get to actually enjoy the movie without craning their necks and for the privilege they expect you to pay extra! Grrrr! Now when we were there it was quiet and we sat on these magical seats regardless, however others have not been so… “lucky” and have been told to move to one of the crap rows even when they were pretty much the only ones in the cinema.

With people owning bigger and better TVs, DVDs being released earlier and earlier (at least it seems like that) and the credit crunch tightening it’s grip you would expect cinemas to try to encourage people to come by reducing their prices. Oh well I suppose, I will have to save cinema trips for films that I really want to see.

Anyways, enough ranting. I think it’s time to take advantage of the amazingly cost effective Xbox 360 and play some games! (I think I am in the mood for a bit of COD4 multiplayer action!)

I went to see The Spirit yesterday with Brian. Neither of us had an Orange phone, otherwise that would have been far more worth it! I didn’t think it was that pants, but the ten year olds in there with us were ++distracting (it was a 12A remember, and school is totaly not out ^_^)… How f’d up was seeing Samuel L. in a Nazi uniform though?!

Never forget Orange Wednesday btw, and keep an eye out for free previews :) Apparently cinemas have high prices on everything to make up for how much they *don’t* make in the first few weeks.

I totally call BS on the premier seats too, in the Odeon they take up all of the best seats in Screen 6 (the big one). They could at least have some screens without them…
